This blog post is about AI Top Tools. I was perusing Reddit about a week ago, and I ran across a post that caught my attention more so than normal posts. A guy posted about a website he created, where he listed tools that used AI technology. At first I thought it was just another random listing site that was generated by robots, or pulled together from multiple sources.
After a few minutes of digging and I realized everything listed on the site was hand selected by the owner of the site and a small 3-person team. Everything was researched, reviewed, and posted by hand. Not to mention, the list is updated on a regular and consistent basis as new ones are researched and discovered and as things change with current ones that are posted.
The FTC recently released some news that it was cracking down on any website, app, service, or product that claimed to use AI but, in reality, was not. One thing I found most interesting about the website I found is that they don’t list anything that isn’t actually using AI. Not only do they hand-pick what they post on the site, but they also manually research them, use them and, test them, then write details about them before posting them on the site. Also, each one gets screened carefully to make sure it’s actually using AI technology.
When OpenAI recently released its API technology, I was digging through google for hours. Now I have a site that does it for me, all I have to do is check it every few days to get the latest scoop on the newest technologies.
I messaged the owner and we had a conversation about the website, and I asked him a few questions. The chat transcript of our conversation (edited for typos) can be found below.
LP = “Logan Pendragon”
AI Top Tools = The website owner.
LP: How long has your website been around?
AI Top Tools: The site has been around for about 1 month.
LP: Is it just you working on the site or is it a team effort?
AI Top Tools: I have a team right now, so far its 3 of us, and growing.
LP: You seem very dedicated to keeping the list up to date, and current. I see new stuff getting added to he site every few days and I think it’s going to be a very useful tool for the world, not just use proponents of AI. What gave you the original idea?
AI Top Tools: The reason for my idea was the lack of a comprehensive resource for discovering both current and upcoming AI tools. I had a desire to create a valuable resource for the broader community, as well as establish a space for individuals invested in AI to collaborate and share innovative ideas for tools that will become increasingly prevalent in the months and years ahead. My goal was to develop something that would make a positive impact, with no intention of generating profits.
LP: One big question that comes to mind is an article I saw by the FCC (I think it was) that claimed they were going to be cracking down on people they felt were frauding society. Claiming they were using AI in their software/site/app but in reality they were not. This seems to be something that is happening as well in the general market a lot lately. Do you have any safeguards (or plan on putting any in place) to help safeguard against things being listed on the site that are not genuinely using some form of AI?
AI Top Tools: Our plan involves conducting quality checks on the tools listed on our platform, and eventually utilizing dynamic algorithms to rank them based on their usefulness to society. This will provide consumers with more insightful analysis to make informed decisions. In addition, we intend to identify and call out any tools that we believe are not genuinely utilizing AI or machine learning and are skirting the definition.
LP: I went through most of the tools listed on the site overall and you seem to be doing a really good job of differentiating true AI. I think it’s an amazing start. What are your opinions on both ChatGPT (Chat.openai.com) and the bing chat version of it (most recent version with the temperature choices)? Also what are your opinions on “AI Censorship”, “Neutering the AI’s” and “Lobotomizing them.” Do you wish we had an unrestricted, uncensored, open ended version of ChatGPT we can access without the API? As someone who has created a site that I feel will end up being at the forefront of this AI technology push and provide valuable resources to people interested in finding related tools, knowing your opinions on AI in general and censorship and things like that would be useful to know.
AI Top Tools: Regarding ChatGPT (chat.openai.com) and the Bing chat version with temperature choices, they are both examples of natural language processing models that use deep learning techniques to generate human-like responses to user inputs. ChatGPT is based on the GPT-3 model, which is one of the most advanced NLP models available today, and has been shown to be capable of generating highly coherent and contextually appropriate responses. The Bing chat version with temperature choices, on the other hand, allows users to adjust the “temperature” of the responses generated by the model, which can lead to more or less creative and varied responses. This feature can be useful in certain contexts, such as generating creative writing prompts or exploring the creative potential of AI-generated text.
Regarding AI Censorship – Balancing the regulation of AI models with their development and use in beneficial areas is crucial, as there are valid concerns about the potential for these models to
be used for harmful or unethical purposes. However, it is also important to recognize the potential benefits that AI can offer in areas such as healthcare, education, and environmental conservation. AI models are only as powerful and unpredictable as the data and algorithms used to train them, so ensuring that these models are trained using high-quality, diverse data and algorithms that prioritize ethical considerations and human values is key to developing safe and beneficial AI models.
LP: What are your future plans for the site, new features and growth potential?
AI Top Tools: We are currently working on some exciting developments for the future of the site, which we cannot reveal just yet. Our main focus is on building a valuable resource for anyone interested in AI, whether they are already familiar with it or just starting to discover it. We encourage everyone to stay tuned and keep an eye out for our progress and growth.
LP: Do you have any other websites, ideas, or ventures you’ll be posting that you’d like everyone to know about coming up so some hype gets built? Typically when someone rolls out a good idea, and they establish themself as an “Idea” person, people can get behind future ideas from the same person.
AI Top Tools: We are going to post things on twitter daily. Especially new tool releases, each one will be posted. Our Twitter handle is @aitoptools.
LP: Do you have a blog site, or news release page, or anything that we can link to so people can keep up to date about new stuff as well?
AI Top Tools: We currently don’t have a blog or news release page, but we plan to have one in the future. For now, we encourage everyone to follow us on Twitter to stay up to date with our latest releases and updates.
LP: Congrats on the visitors you’re getting, I will follow you as well.
AI Top Tools: Thank you, we are excited to continue building for the AI community. I truly am passionate and love it.

New Updates – 4/6/2023
They’ve updated the website a lot since I last posted this. They’ve added more than 3,000 new tools recently. They also added other features like login systems, my account features, and an AI that can help you find AI tools within the system.
AI, helping you find AI. How ironic (and amazing) is that.
Aside from that, they also added a newsletter subscription (That’s worth it, trust me). They also added a news feed and latest news within the AI industry, very helpful if you’re wanting to stay on top of recent AI events. They are carefully curated news by the owner and one of the few that I haven’t found overly biased or untrue randomly regurgitated statements. One I can definitely recommend versus most of the other crap news floating around about AI.
I also just noticed (just now) they also added a community page. It’s very bare bones currently, but it looks like it could serve as the new basis for a strong community connection point for AI enthusiasts and people interested in connecting with other people interested in AI.
Here is the first post on the forum from one of the site admins that accurately describes the vision and goals of the company.
