It’s been awhile since I’ve written any blog posts but I decided to get back into it as a way to continue practicing and improving my writing. Nowadays I mostly write novels and short stories. I will start posting again semi-regularly as the mood (and ideas) strike me.
I have been playing a variety of games lately, but I recenly beat several of them so I will start there. I recently beat Mirrors Edge, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and the campaign for Outriders.
Mirror’s edge was an amazing game. It took me awhile to figure out the controls and it isn’t as open world as I’d like but it is a great game. I finished it within a few days, and started on Catalyst which is a huge improvement over the original game. I am close to being done with that one but took a break from it. I’m near the end but after I beat the game, I intend to take the time to do as much of the challenges, unlockables and map as I feel like doing.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 was another game I beat recently. It had an amazing storyline even though it was infuriating. Certain sections of the game were really difficult to get through and took a lot of time and work. After beating the campaign I tried messing around with multi-player but at the moment it didn’t seem like a good fit for me, so I quit playing it. I might pick it up again eventually but at least I got through the campaign which had a really good story. This is without ever getting a chance to play the first one before the mutliplayer scene died.
Outriders I beat the campaign for, but I am still actively playing Outriders. The main story was amazing and you have to replay it for each character. I just beat it once with my main character and now I have been messing around with after-campaign gameplay, and end game material as well as the multiplayer. I love the game and it offers a lot more than I originally thought.
Beyond that I’ve been playing several other games: Outriders, dead space 1, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Ancestors: The humankind Odyssey, Mirrors Edge Catalyst and Prison Architect. Out of these a few I have been playing on the side in between the main ones I have been actively working through. I have went into details about them below.
Fallen Order is a really good game, I am just now at the very beginning of it and working my way through it. My oldest daughter has almost beaten it already. It’s a good game, but my main focus has been on Outriders lately so I haven’t put as much time into it as I’d like. Once I clear away some games I’ll spend a lot more time on that one.
Dead Space 1 is a game I am working through slowly and I’ve only worked my way through about 3 hours of the game. My intention is to play Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 after I finish with the 1st one, but I’m not in a hurry to get through it. So far it seems like the start to a really good series. There are some glitches on PC when using a controller but the game aged well and is definitely worth playing if you want to get into the series.
Ancestors is an amazing game. I haven’t done much with it and I am going slow (just getting my feet wet). Once I clear some of the other games off of my list I intend to put a lot of time into this one and really explore the mechanics, growth and world in detail. I think this is going to be an amazing game to sink a lot of time into.
Mirrors Edge Catalyst is one I started right after finishing Mirrors Edge. I worked my way through most of the game, then took a break from it. As it is a huge improvement over the first one I took a break from it while I focused on finishing a few others. That way I don’t lose the addiction I had to it and could come back from to wrap up the last part of the game and get through some of the unlockable challenges and achievements afterward.
Prison Architect is a game that was amzing to get into it. I played it for about 50 hours and started on an entire prison and then got deep into the mechanics. I ran into multiple errors/glitches so I took a break from it (thinking it was a dead game). Since then I was surprised when they released 3 bug fix patches and DLC. I haven’t started playing a new prison build with it since the patches and DLC but I intend to put a lot more time into the game in the near future. My goal now is to beat a few I am working on to make room for some of the more time intensive games. But this is definitely one of my top favorite games.
The main one I am playing is Outriders. Once I started that i put the rest on hold until the campaign was done then took a small break from it. It’s one of the best games I’ve played in awhile but it was worth every second. It also presents a great deal of challenge if you try to stay at the top world tier you are able to go into it.
My current plan (When I am back in the mood to play again soon) is to continue progressing through Outriders while I finish off mirrors edge catalyst. Then I plan on playing dead space 1 and fallen order at the sametime. Once I clear some of those out then I will focus on ancestors and prison architect again but I’m sure I’ll bounce around some as well.
Overall these are some good game recommendations and all of them are worth playing.
