Overview
This is meant to serve as a high-level fictional breakdown of my own creative interpretation of the Multiverse and many worlds theory. I have created my own Mythos and origin backstory. This is meant to serve as the basis for all my fictional worlds, novels, and short stories.
The idea behind this is an unlimited number of Universes and Multiverses exist within an Omniverse. The Omniverse is a collection of all Multiverses. A Multiverse is a collection of all associated Universes and everything within them. Each Universe is the entirety of everything that exists within it: matter, space, time, energy, dimensions, planes, information, constants, laws and/or the lack of any of the aforementioned. Universes are random and have infinite variability between each other. Some develop in such a way as to support life, in whatever form that might take, while others don’t. Some are so different from our own that the laws in which they are governed by are not even understandable by our human minds. The various Universes within a specific Multiverse are sometimes referred to as Parallel Universes, Alternate Universes and so forth.
Definitions:
Universe – A singular existence. All of time and space and its contents.
Multiverse – A collection of Universes that are related to each other. Each Universe can have multiple time lines, alternate dimensions, alternate realities and so forth. A Multiverse brings all of these related Universes together into one Multiverse.
Omniverse – A collection of all Multiverses.
History and Backstory
The expanse has always existed.
The expanse was empty, except for Everling and Shadow, dancing across the face of eternity. Everling was power. Shadow was tethered to Everling, giving him control over that power.
As time passed Everling grew lonely. His biggest desire was to create. He used his power to create things and watched as his creations unfolded throughout the Expanse. Shadow grew jealous and consumed these creations. It sparked enmity between them.
After ages of consideration, Everling decided to create something Shadow could not devour. He used a large amount of power to create a female version of himself, that he named Mate. As Everling and Mate drew closer together, it angered Shadow. In jealousy, Shadow untethered itself from Everling, weakening his power. Then Shadow fled to the far reaches of the Expanse. There, the hatred it held boiled over, creating The Nothing. Anything that wandered into The Nothing was consumed by Shadow.
Everling lost all desire to exist and Mate knew that they needed to reconcile, in order for them to survive. She searched for Shadow and found it within The Nothing. From the edges of The Nothing, Mate called Shadow out and explained how deeply Everling cared for it, and needed it to survive. Shadow had used too much of its remaining power and was close to death. Very little time was left. Shadow grew sorrowful for not realizing sooner how Everling felt.
Mate knew there was no way to save Shadow, but if Everling didn’t see it at least once, he would die also. Mate allowed Shadow to tether to her, knowing it would ultimately kill them both.
With Shadow, she returned to Everling. Shadow and Mate said their goodbyes to Everling then used the last of their remaining power to fulfill Everling’s greatest wish: creation.
They destroyed The Nothing, making The Expanse infinite again. Within the Expanse they created an ever expanding location, they called the Hub. Within the Hub they created The Omniverse and everything it needed to regulate itself. It allowed Everling to create to his heart’s content. The rest of their power went back into Everling, giving him the same power he had in the beginning, but without Shadow as a tether. Instead, tethering himself to the Hub.
When Shadow and Mate gave up their power, Everling cried for the first time in all eternity. The tears had an effect on Shadow’s death. Instead of dying it weakened to a point where it was almost non-existent, and its physical form vanished. Everling could feel its presence in the Expanse but couldn’t find it. Shadow sent forth a final thought, telling Everling everything he needed to know to operate the Hub.
The Hub was the force that powered the Omniverse. The Omniverse served as an expandable container for everything within it. Within the Omniverse, Multiverses existed separately, each hooked into, and powered, by the Hub. There was no limit to the number of Multiverses that could exist at any one time. Within each Multiverse existed what was called a Universe. Each Universe was created to hold whatever Everling wished to create within it. All Universes within each Multiverse all had something similar to them that tied the strands of them together.
The Omniverse contained all creation. Each Multiverse contained the Universes within it. That could include multiple timelines, related Universes, dimensions and planes. Then each Universe contained its own self contained worlds.
Since then, Everling has spent eternity creating everything his mind could fathom. Even setting up ways for Multiverses, and Universes to create and expand themselves with infinite immortal creativity.
